This is a gold foil plated version of the MPC TIE Interceptor kit that is paired with the LE B-wing and X-wing. I'm not really sure why ERTL did this. Maybe it was to boost sales? Maybe it was an attempt to make something special? Whatever it was, it didn't go over too well. You still find these things in hobby shops collecting dust on the shelves. It's usually the B-wing that you find. I myself kind of like them. They really shine when you put them in the sun. I don't know, it's just cool. When I was taking pictures of them, the view screen on my camera had an ethereal glow wherever the sun hit the foil. It almost looked like the ghosts in the pictures in The Sixth Sense. Creepy, huh? Anyway, for an explanation on how this kit fit together, you can check out the regular TIE Interceptor. I didn't paint it, obviously, because that would ruin the whole idea of the kit. I got this on eBay for like $5.
